
Robert M. Marionneaux, Jr., has been a practicing attorney in Louisiana for sixteen years. During that same sixteen years he has served as a member of the Louisiana Legislature (La. House of Representatives 1996-2000; La. Senate 2000-2012) where he has been a powerful voice for the civil justice system fighting to preserve a persons right to a trial by jury.
Mr. Marionneaux has been involved in trying numerous jury trials: both civil and criminal. He is the managing partner of Unglesby & Marionneaux which was formed in 2003, combining more than 30 years of legal experience of Lewis O. Unglesby and Mr. Marionneaux.
Mr. Marionneaux has been lead counsel in numerous multi-million dollar jury verdicts and numerous jury awards exceeding one million dollars. He has been involved in winning verdicts in such cases as contamination of a drinking water aquifer by a large chemical company, contamination of property and drinking water caused by leaking Underground Storage Tanks (gasoline), catastrophic injury cases involving fires and explosions, automobile defects including cruise control switches resulting in house fires.
Mr. Marionneaux has tried several multi-million dollar verdicts for wrongful death and catastrophic injury resulting from negligent 18 wheeler operators. Mr. Marionneaux has become intimately familiar with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Act, the Louisiana Commercial Driver Handbook and has given several seminars on "Am I Prepared to Handle an Eighteen Wheeler Case?"
Robert M. Marionneaux, Jr., at the age of 27 was elected to the Louisiana House of Representatives, where he served on the Criminal Justice Committee which oversees criminal statutes, juvenile justice, the Department of Corrections, and all gaming statutes and regulations. He was elected to the Louisiana Senate in 1999 and again reelected in 2003, and 2007. During the 2003 term he served as chairman of Judiciary B, the committee which oversees the Criminal Justice system, Juvenile Justice, the Department of Corrections and all gaming related activities. During his last term in the Senate he served as Chairman of the Revenue and Fiscal Affairs Committee which is responsible for tax policy for the State.
Outside of Unglesby & Marionneaux and the Louisiana Legislature, Mr. Marionneaux serves on the Louisiana State Law Institute, an academic think tank which advises the Louisiana Legislature of policy recommendations. He also serves the Louisiana State Bar Association as an elected member to the House of Delegates for the 19th Judicial District. He has been recognized and rated by Martindale-Hubbell which identifies lawyers with very high legal ability, legal expertise and professional stature. He is also a member of the Louisiana Associates for Justice, American Associates for Justice, Louisiana Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, The Million Dollar Advocates Forum, and The Multi Million Dollar Advocates Forum.
Mr. Marionneaux holds several licenses including a private pilot's license, a motorcycle endorsement both of which have been useful in his practice of law. His hobbies include flying, hunting, fishing, skiing, snow skiing and working on his cattle farm located in Grosse Tete, Louisiana. He is the father of one child, Robert, and husband of Keely Williams Marionneaux.
